Broadway/Musical Theatre (July 19-23, 2010)
If classical Broadway singing and dancing are your thing, this is the camp for you. A week of singing, dancing, and acting training will culminate in a short production on Friday night. This promises to be an extremely fun week of Broadway style training and performing. This camp is geared towards children ages 12 and up, and will be held from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. .The cost of this camp is $150.00 per student.

Summer Dance Intensive (July 26-30, 2010)
Expect to be pushed to the limit in this week of all encompassing dance training. Our seasoned and professional dance instructors will provide you the highest level of training in the areas of technique, choreography, and performance. Dance styles will consist of ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, tap, jazz, and hip hop. The cost of this camp will vary depending on student level, with prices ranging from $100.00 to $400.00 per student.

Acting/Theatre (August 2-6, 2010)
A week filled with Stanislavski method training taught by Graham Cooper, a graduate of the Royal Academy in London. Students will work on the many aspects of stage acting, including auditioning techniques, voice projection, and improvisation, all culminating with a short production on Friday night. Pre-teen times will be 2:00pm until 5:00pm, and age 13 and up will be 6:00pm until 9:00pm. The cost of this camp is $150.00 per student.

Did you know that even though the ACT writing portion is not mandatory, some colleges still want you to take the written test? When you only have 20-30 minutes to create an essay, it may seem overwhelming, but there are specific things you can do to prepare yourself. Mrs. Ballance was one of the first SAT readers in 2005, and has since tutored juniors with techniques that can make their essays better based on the readers’ guidelines assigned to all essay readers.

Learn more about China’s history as you spend an action packed week learning Tai Chi, Wushu, Chinese dancing, Chinese martial arts, and traditional Chinese visual arts including paper cutting, clay sculpting, and calligraphy. Campers will participate in Chinese cooking as well. Delicious Chinese food will be provided for lunch.

To qualify for Camp Good Times, campers must be at least 6 years of age, ambulatory, toilet trained, and able to complete basic self help skills with minimal assistance. Cabin assignments are based on sex and age and usually contain 4 – 6 campers with 2 – 3 counselors. For many years Camp Hopewell has provided Christian hospitality and programs for people of all ages. The center operates year round and provides exciting summer camp programs for children and youth in June and July. Special programs include two sessions for children and youth with diabetes. One week for families who have a child with cancer is supported by the generosity of many people and is offered without charge. The camp is on 267 forested acres with two lakes totaling about 50 acres. All the residence cabins are air conditioned for greater comfort and safety. Attendance is limited to 80 campers. About 30 staff plus volunteers are on hand to help campers have an experience to remember.

CUMC’s Special Needs Ministry has been serving the Mid-South community for over 10 years. We offer a Sunday School class on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 10:45 am, a Parents Night Out one Friday a month, Vacation Bible School and Sports Camp in the summer, Exercise Classes on Saturday mornings and all inclusive Basketball and Soccer programs. The SNM also networks with other agencies to provide information to parents that call CUMC. The SNM hosts guest speakers throughout the year that provide information to parents about their agency and/or service targeting children and adults with all types of disabilities

 

 

The Exceptional Foundation of West Tennessee 2010 Summer Camp

The Exceptional Foundation of West Tennessee (EFWT) Summer Camp focuses on mentally and/or physically challenged individuals ages 5 and up who have independent self-help skills. The EFWT camp provides a much needed place for these exceptional people to enjoy the summer months, as well as a respite for their parents, most of whom are working and have very few options for care.

Cost: Camp fees range from $15 per half day to $125 for the entire week.
Registration: There is a $100 registration fee. Register by May 1st and receive 10% off the registration fee. Deadline: June 1st Dates: June 7 - July 30
Hours of operation: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mid-South Arc provides individuals with developmental disabilities the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and revive at its two-week long residential summer camps for over 30 years. The camp schedule is: July 7-11 at the Nelson Wood Retreat Center in Millington,and July 28 – August 1 at PineCrest. For more information, please contact Michelle Alexander.

 

 

Teen Camp Good Grief

Teen Camp Good Grief, sponsored by Baptist Trinity Center for Good Grief, is an overnight bereavement camp for teens, ages 13-17, who have experienced the death of a loved one in the past two years. The camp is made possible by a grant from the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation and Junior League of Memphis is offered without charge. Activities include support groups, art, storytelling, recreation, music, adventure activities and a Memorial Service. Camp dates are October 16-18, 2009. Meals, transportation and lodging will be provided.
